This year we have drawn together our company norms and values, also known as our Non-Negotiables. Who we are as a team, where we stand for and strive for. We value this process and outcome a lot and also we are (not too secretly) enormously proud of it!

Company values can be described as the beliefs, philosophies, and principles that drive a business. They impact the employee experience as well as the relationship you with customers, partners, and shareholders”

Basically a set of  guiding principles and fundamental beliefs that:

1. Set our identity

2. Help us (all employees) make the right decisions 

3. Improves retention of colleagues because of value based recruitment

4. Differentiates us from competitors 

5. Help us together as a team and work towards our common goals

How do these norms and values come about?

First there was an anonymous survey collecting input about Levarnes’ norms and values. We analyzed this input by word clouds and based upon these created a first draft version of the values. Then we shared a new survey to test the first draft so that everyone could give a number rank to the draft values. Next we we updated the highest ranked values and created an updated set based on the feedback. Resulting in norms and values where we are very proud of!

How do we keep them alive?

First of all we threw a launch party for our Non-Negotiables including a barbeque and fun merchandise: there were garlands, napkins, coasters, t-shirts and even two enormous wall paintings. In short, our Non-Negotiables couldn’t go unnoticed!

Furthermore we vote all together every quarter on the Levarnians that were living by each value the best, the so called value champions. There are also voting possibilities at the Levarne office by using a QR-scan so that value worthy behavior can be acknowledged. All votes lead to five winners who each win a customized Levarne certificate. As a cherry on top, the chosen value champions are also visually honored on one of our Non-Negotiables walls! 

In short, these norms and values characterize US. They declare why and how we do things. This forms a type of unity and also clearity: everyone knows how to tackle certain situations, because when acting according to our core values, you’re always good.
