Introduction
The ‘Stichting Jeugdbrandweer Nederland’ started officialy in 2006 and is a part of the Dutch fire brigade. The youth members are able to follow lessons and also there are tournaments and test days being organized. Additionally, youth brigades often organize mutual tournaments or sporting events in their own regions. There are about 156 youth brigades distributed over the entire country.
The challenge
The challenge was to create a visually attractive and fresh looking website for the youth members. This also included focussing on responsiveness to ensure that the website is easily accessible for mobile devices. Finally there was a conscious decision to have every screen behind the login redirected to the previous website screens. This required some research and focus to ensure that members were able to make use of the login functionality at all times.
The solution
We have migrated the Jeugdbrandweer website (largely) to Vue, refreshed the design and made it more accessible for mobile devices for the youth. For instance, at first competition results were displayed in large, unclear tables. Now they are made easily accessible using drop down menus. Also for mobile devices, this is a big plus. Then we made sure to focus on the required functionalities, so the end result only includes the functions that are actually being used.
The value
The design is more uptodate and the screens are made more responsive which enables easy scaling to smaller screens. We migrated the website code to Vue, leading to a more modern application. Because the end result only includes the required functionalities, the website feels intuitive and clear.
